HERO CAMPAIGN

2008

Right in your back yard just around the corner – there is a place where people help others in need.

  • When people will give whatever they can to feed and clothe victims of an unimaginable disaster—
  • Where business owners and community organizations raise funds to help provide food and shelter for hundreds of people who have lost their homes and livelihoods—
  • Where a person will choose to leave the comfort of her own bed on a cold night to bring warmth and comfort and hope to a neighbor she may not know and may never see again—

That is the Red Cross.  Kind and compassionate volunteers of the Southern Prairie Chapter of the American Red Cross are ready to respond to the emergency needs of each and every community, no matter how large or small the disaster.

Will You Help?

While attention has been drawn this past year to the high-profile tragedies nationally and abroad, amazing achievements were also taking place in our own backyard.  More than 60 house fires, flash floods, and two crippling winter storms!  Red Cross was there providing shelter, food, comfort, clothing, and mental health counseling.

For more than 90 years your local Red Cross chapter has provided our communities with heroes; volunteers who saved lives and helped countless families survive and recover from disasters. Now we are asking you to be a HERO for the American Red Cross by participating in our chapter’s 2008 HEROES campaign. HERO kick off date is March 1, 2008 and will continue all month.

To become a HERO for the American Red Cross, you or your organization agrees to raise a minimum of $500 through any legal means you choose.  You or a representative of your organization will be recognized on Ottumwa Radio during live remotes.  You can also sponsor a live remote by contacting your Ottumwa Radio Representative.  If you do not have a Sales Representative at Ottumwa Radio call 641-684-5563.  In addition, you or your organization can also have your picture or logo placed on a large color poster.

Please contact me at 641-682-4571 or by email, karlaarc@lisco.com to discuss your business or organization’s participation in this humanitarian effort.

Sincerely,

Karla S Weeks

Executive Director
